Reviewer100's Review of T-Mobile Communication Centre 3G Data Card

Overall Rating

Good Points

When it works, it is excellent. Freedom of no wires and quick downloads. Line rental very reasonable.

Bad Points

It rarely works!! Live in a good reception area (South Manchester) with direct line of sight to two masts within 1.5 miles. Crashes regularly and locks up. Have had a replacement data card which also failed within a week.

General Comments

The T-Mobile Communication Centre 3G Data Card seems like a potentially brilliant piece of new technology which can't yet meet what it says on the tin. The line rental is very cheap but if it doesn't work, then it is pouring money down the drain. I've had a few months line rental free because of the problems I've had. The connection was lost whilst typing this very review. I am not a computer expert, but am reasonably confident in what I am doing. The instructions steer you towards a plug and play style system which is a breeze to set up. Plug and pray!! Personal opinion - stay well clear.

OK, Well an update on the T-Mobile Communication Centre 3G data card. Eventually it has started working fine, and I would say it is 95% reliable, but only after reading some internet articles from other users with the same problem. The card has 6-modems in it, and the last modem it will select will be the 3G one, giving all other things like Wi-Fi and Hot Spots priority. Alter it so that the T-Mobile 3G modem is the priority and all the others are off or a lower priority. Can't explain it too well, but users with a reasonable knowledge of computers may be able to help.

The T-Mobile Software is rubbish and causes many of the crashing problems. Set up a manual dial-up connection which uses the card as the modem. This is a bit more advanced, but it is so much quicker, user friendly and more reliable. Ask a computer boffin or speak to T-Mobile's technical department for this.

Shame that T-Mobile didn't come up with the solution why it didn't work!!!! New score 9/10
