Good Points

Once I've got through the list of bad points, I think it's best that I leave it there! To be honest, HSBC have been so average in the services they have provided to me that any praise would just be inappropriate.

General Comments

My partner and I arranged a mortgage with HSBC earlier this year. The first mortgage payment (scheduled to be taken from our HSBC bank account) was rejected, and upon closer inspection, the account number they had arranged to take the money from wasn't even ours! They had attempted to take our first mortgage payment from another customers account, and through no fault of our own we suddenly found ourselves with a 'missed payment'! It took numerous phone calls and several letters before we received an apology. I accept that mistakes DO happen, but when it happens on your first mortgage payment, it leaves you wondering "where do we go from here?!"

Bring back the local branch manager. People are sick and tired of dealing with faceless, semi-automated drones who work in call centres!
