Never a dull moment, and something to do for all ages, all day long. An experience not to be missed in a lifetime.
Crowds and queues, but only to be expected. Prices are high for everything you can purchase in the parks.
Disneyland Resort Paris is the holiday experience of a lifetime. If you have children, the look on their faces as they meet Disney characters, walk along a fairytale road towards the Sleeping Beauty Palace as they enter the park for the first time is the very best gift a parent could ever be given. We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, which is at the gates of the park for 4 nights and 5 days, taking 2 of our children with us, both to celebrate their birthdays. One was 8, and the other 21. The 8 year old celebrated his birthday at a special party we booked at an extra cost of £12 per head, where Disney characters were entertaining the birthday boys and girls. A buffet was provided, and a Birthday cake was brought to the table with a lit candle. He thoroughly enjoyed himself, and so did we! For the 21 year old's birthday we booked to see the Wild West Show, Buffalo Bill's. Here we were served a meal of chilli beans, chicken leg, sausage and spare rib with potato and veg, followed by apple crumble and ice cream. Plenty of Beer, water or Cola, and coffee to finish. The show was about cowboys and Indians, and they had horses, cattle and Buffalo in the arena at different times during the show. We were given cowboy hats and encouraged to cheer! It was a lot of money at 41 Euros each, but it was a good show.
The rest of the holiday was spent enjoying the rides and everything else in the park, and visiting the Studio Park. The main Disney park is HUGE! We got completely lost on our first night, so take the map given! The rides are stunning. Some you have to queue a long time for, unless you get there early or later on in the evening. The Cafe's and restaurants are very busy, very expensive and full of junk food! I was really sick of burgers and chips at highly inflated prices! There is a McDonald's in the Village where prices are a bit more realistic. There are drinking fountains at various places throughout the park where you can have a free drink of water! Wear very comfortable footwear. Believe me, you will be glad you did! Make sure you make time to visit the Studio park. It is not so crowded and very very good. The stunt show was brilliant, so don't miss it! There was plenty of seating, but there are only 3 shows daily. Armageddon was worth seeing too, and it was better than we expected. I didn't go on the Aerosmith roller coaster, but my husband and 21 year old did. It is not for the faint-hearted apparently!! The tram ride is spectacular, and you get the the full works; explosion, fire and water! Cruella Deville and Co. do a really great show outdoors, involving some members of the audience, so stop and look on your way past! Cruella looks great!
The Village is the place to go for pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants. This is also where you will find Buffalo Bills. The club stays open until 5am. It is not our scene so we didn't go. My husband disappeared into Planet Hollywood (a theme pub) one afternoon to get away from the crowds to enjoy a drink, emerging some time later swaying and bearing a silly grin! It was such a hot day and such a cool pub!
I would certainly recommend a trip to Disneyland Paris, but be prepared to spend lots of money. It is no good skimping on this holiday of a lifetime!! Also, be prepared for a LOT of walking and standing around in queues, and also a bit of pushing and shoving at times! What is guaranteed is you will really enjoy it whatever age you are! I would say for that short break, staying in the hotel, flights, taxi's to and from airport, entertainment and everything else cost us somewhere in the region of £3000. I expect you could do it for a lot less though, but a once in a lifetime trip is worth pushing out the boat for we think!! JUST DO IT!!
