General Comments
My Experience with reed.co.uk
There were 262,265 jobs online this morning at reed.co.uk. This site has been running since 1995. Vacancies there may be, but you can only apply for what you have experience in. The web site is designed to weed out the no-hopers. I have been using this site for some years now.
I came across reed.co.uk and liked the look of the site. It offered the ability to post your CV online, and so be able to e-mail it simply to employers. I had not joined other agencies on the Internet, but this site looked good.
I noticed sections of general office and driving jobs. There is usually one section you stick to as your main interest. The job application system involves completion of your profile and everything on your CV. Once you have done that, you can then click a button and apply for a job. It is really easy to do.
There are jobs in every field. Jobs come with a description and extra information to apply for that job. Once you have signed up and logged in, you have your own personal start page that consists of the following sections: Search Jobs, Your Account, Short Cuts, Browse Sector and Featured Recruiters.
You apply for a job and then receive an e-mail, so you are notified straight away.
These are all sub divided, and my own personal account page opens up on sub categories.
The colour scheme of the site is blue, white and orange. When you create your account it saves a lot of time and repetitive actions, offering these features: Viewing recommended jobs - the jobs that would suit your skills, qualifications and experience. View Application History - look back at jobs applied for. Attach a new CV - upload a new one. Update sign in details - change password. Update your job-related skills - change your job searching criteria. Update your contact preferences so everything is up-to-date.
If you want to change the chosen sector and search for a wider range of jobs it is possible. There is also a salary calculator. I have applied for some jobs, and I've had a few offers, but nothing interesting, so I have had no interviews yet, and this is normal for any agency I have used. It's a great resource for jobs, and reed.co.uk covers every possible sector.
