The display could possibly be light sensitive - but that would add cost and complexity - and there's no real need to monitor it anyway.
General Comments
I have owned this unit for well over a month now, having purchased it for £70 in Comet (which surprisingly was cheaper than Talex's own Website!).
The Talex has been faultless, detecting ALL the cameras (& mobile sites) in my home county of Lincolnshire (which is swamped with the things!). The unit also performed perfectly on a trip to the Home Counties and later on the roads to Edinburgh.
The Talex Lite does everything you require from a camera detector giving plenty of warning of an upcoming camera and the speed limit associated with it. The voice and other audible warnings are pleasant enough and the volume can be altered. One good feature is that if a camera site is fixed and can only operate in one direction; the Talex will not alert you if you're travelling in the opposite one, thus eliminating those annoying false alerts.
All in all, an excellent purchase and I'd happily recommend it.

on 20th Oct 2006The Talex Lite speed camera detector will alert you to "possible" Mobile Camera Sites. It is up to you what action you then take.

on 1st Dec 2008Try getting an update kit from them. They take the money but don't send the goods or respond to any communications despite reassurances over the phone.
