Good Points

OK, the good points are that it has amazing sound quality (but maybe that's because I'm used to the Yamaha PSR-275), and it has a massive array of voices and styles. The recording feature is great too. It really got me into writing my own songs.

Bad Points

As mentioned before, I started getting into songwriting with this keyboard, and as soon as you do, a fault hits you in the face. You cannot make a riff you have made repeat itself. I'll explain a bit more. When you make a simple background tune, for example the notes A, B, C, you want that background music to repeat itself over and over again so you can play over the top, but no. Instead, the nearest you get is for example: A B C ting ting ting TING (meant to be the click track) A B C. Although this may be good for beginners, after a while it gets extremely irritating.

Anyway, apart from that it's perfect in almost every way. Oh, apart from portability. Unless you have a large car and you are quite strong, don't buy this keyboard if you want to take it with you!

General Comments

The Yamaha DGX505 keyboard is a very good instrument, apart from the aforementioned flaws, though I would like to say that it has been a great instrument for me, and it has fitted every one of my needs. It is even great if you are a pianist, as you don't have to pay someone to tune a piano each year.
