Great action, brilliant story, plenty of twists.
Virtually every (living) major cast member from previous seasons features at some point.
One of the best endings to a 24 series yet.
Expanded role for Special Agent Aaron Pearce this season.
Bad Points
Real-time seems to have gone out of the window.
General Comments
24 Series 5 is one of the best seasons we have had of 24 since the programs birth. Personally I think it is the best season to date due to the drama, suspense, genuine 'Oh My God' moments, action scenes and overall storyline. The opening 2 hours are truly gripping and are a real must for all 24 die-hard fans.
I won't include any spoilers in this review as I don't want to ruin any potential shocks for 24 fans who are still waiting for the DVD release and haven't seen the season yet. 24 Season 4 ended with Jack Bauer being forced to fake his own death to escape the clutches of the Chinese government, Day 5 begins with Jack coming out of hiding after a shocking chain of events means he can stay under cover no longer. We are then faced with multiple backdrops including a major terrorist threat which help to make day 5 unpredictable and shocking.
Many 24 favourites return for the series as well as some newcomers that make a big impact. Obviously Jack Bauer returns to the action as well as long time favourites like President David Palmer, Wayne Palmer, Mike Novick, Michelle Deissler, Tony Almeida and Secret Service operative Aaron Pearce. In CTU all the major players from Series 4 are involved like Bill Buchanon, Chloe O'Brien, Curtis, Edgar & former Jack love interest Audrey Raines. This season is made all the more interesting now that Vice President Logan has been sworn in and is now the US President. Can Logan be any more incompetant than in season 4? You will have to watch to find out.
All in all I think this a brilliant series of 24 and one I would definitely recommend you watch. I will buying the DVD as soon as it's released to relive another agonising 24 hours.
