Good Points

Accurate, powerful, nice quality including barrel and the stocks finish. This rifle is also a well designed small game rifle. Chronograph results are breath-taking!

Bad Points

This gun is extremely loud and heavy. It may scare your quarry away along with your neighbors! This rifle could be a bit more compact.

General Comments

Gamo Hunter 1250 - If you are looking for a true air rifle for hunting small game you are now looking in the right direction. I purchased this rifle a couple months ago and have bagged a 2 squirrels and a chipmunk so far. I have to mention I'm up to 83 red-squirrels, many taken with my bengemin silverstreak and previous shadow 1000. But this rifle is different in many ways and will help me enjoy many hunting adventures to come. Anyway, I use strictly gamo hunter pellets in my rifle, I consistently get tight groups extending 25-30 yards. I have yet to mention what stands out most in this 1250. I used a f-1 chrony with gamo hunter pellets for an unbelievable @1320fps! This number was atttained at about the 120th shot through my rifle. At around my previous 20th shot I was getting a lower number @1290fps(hunters) These are exceptional numbers to my previous hunter 1250 which only dented the @1180 fps mark with the same pellet. This rifle was exchanged with a sure default in accuracy, and velocity consistecy at low numbers.I'm happy with this rifle in all means. With a 350 rws scope, consistent accuracy, exceptional power, and years to come of great shooting, you can't go wrong in an air rifle right? This is what makes this one special.

Gamo Hunter pellets are only 8.1 grains. Want to see your squirrels get knocked clean off the tree? Try a heavier pellet like Beemans Kadiak 10.6 grains or Beemans Silver Arrow (my favorite) 11.1 grains. I use a Gamo CFX fixed barrel gun. The day I bought it I sighted it in with the Silver Arrow pellets. A unlucky squirrel crossed my path as I was shooting at about 35 yards. From a standing shot I put one in his chest and dropped it dead. I've used Gamo's Hunter pellets and they are a little faster because they are lighter than Beeman's Silver Arrow. But the knock down and penetration are far better with the heavyer pellet. Give it a shot, I bet you'll never go back. I didn't!

Do you know if there is any difference between the hunter 1250 and the hunter extreme?
