Great for young kids.
Gullivers Kingdom in Matlock Bath is great fun, and it can take up a full day. It is however geared towards younger children. We have been twice (summer 2004 and summer 2005) because our kids loved it so much. The park rises in stages on the side of a hill, and therefore has a lot of steep slopes to negotiate, and pushing a buggy and toddler up some is really hard going! Its position on the hill makes it a struggle sometimes to get around, but it also kind of adds to its charm, as there are great views to be had.
Most of the rides are very tame, but there are a few that get the pulse rate up. The Switchback rollercoaster is small but fairly modern, and it gives a good fast ride. Thrill-seekers forget this park. It's for kids, toddlers and young kiddies seeking their first coaster thrills. Mind you, in saying that, I'm a coward when it comes to fairground rides etc. so I had a good time on the rides, and the Switchback was fast enough and scary enough for me.
One more thing... Because the park is on the side of a hill, it breaks up the park into various levels, so each level isn't too crowded. There is also a chairlift to the far side of the park that goes from top to bottom.
