General Comments

What can you say that is not a superlative? The Disney Magic Western Caribbean cruise was our first cruise, and I was NOT looking forward to it at all. I thought it was only for old fogies! As other reviewers have said, Disney's own check-in terminal at Port Canaveral is first class, and it is run with typical Disney efficiency.

The food from day one (of what was meant to be 7) through to the last of what turned out to be 11 days was excellent, even though supplies were running low due to voracious American appetites! The cruise Director was brilliant, and a laugh every time he came over the PA system.

The most notable thing about this particular cruise was the way the Disney staff handled the problems caused by Hurricane Francis. On day one we were informed that Key West had to be dropped from the itinerary, as we had to outrun Hurricane Francis. In its place they substituted Costa Maya in Mexico, which turned out to be a revelation! As with all other cruise ships that week, ours was under orders to stay at sea to avoid the hurricane. We also got to see Galveston, Texas where we had to refuel. Interesting port of call if you're into the American Civil War.

Full marks to the staff however, for how they rearranged all our return flights - WHICH WERE BOOKED INDEPENDENTLY, NOT THROUGH DISNEY!! They laid on transfer coaches from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando, had a special check-in desk for Disney passengers open, so we sailed past all the other people rearranging their flights which had been disrupted for a week! AND, this is the best part, EVEN HAD A STEWARD WAITING FOR US AT ATLANTA to escort us to our connecting flight, WHICH HAD BEEN KEPT OPEN FOR US! Can you imagine ANY UK or European holiday company doing that? No, I can't either.

Full marks to the Disney Corporation.
