Good Points

The pools are brilliant - cater for all ages.
Our daughter loved the creche, and the staff were really nice.
A wide range of food and good quality.


Bad Points

Dire entertainment!
First Choice staff.
The beach had rough black stones, and it wasn't very clean.
Those plastic cups!


General Comments

I went to the Petra Mare Hotel in Crete with a friend and our 2 young children. We were impressed with the hotel and its reception staff, who were always helpful and nice. Our room was OK, but we wished we'd asked for a sea view, as we were overlooking a building site!

The only thing that would stop me recommending this hotel is the First Choice staff. They were very patronising, and they were useless when asked a simple question such as "where can I find an internet cafe?" The supervisor was hardly ever there, and I was amazed when I was told that Petra Mare is his only hotel. I had assumed he must be rushing around looking after several.

The evening entertainment I thought was terrible, and I am surprised other reviewers have said it wasn't. The staff don't seem to have any idea about interacting with children, and they were often shouting at them and being very rude to them during the children's disco. The staff running the disco seemed more concerned about themselves than the children. One minute they want them all on stage dancing, the next they are shooing them away and being quite nasty if they don't get off the stage quickly enough.

I thought the shows were very poor as well. Very amateurish.

In the end we stopped watching the shows, preferring to sit in the "German" bar by the baby pool! We enjoyed most of our holiday, but we wouldn't book with First Choice again.

    I think your comments are a joke. I must ask did you go to this hotel or just put these comments on here as a joke?
    i saw the first choice staff including supervisor there nearly everyday until 11pm from 9am in the morning.
