Good Points

Practical 4 seat convertible for family with young kids.
Safety of roll over bar compared with 306 etc.
VW reliability.
Good performance and economy

Bad Points

Manual tonneau cover a pain to install and to store in boot.
Wind noise around A pillars with roof up.
Scuttle shake over bumps.
Replaced reversing light switch at 59,000 km.
Driver's window switch playing up.

General Comments

Bought for my wife a Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet as a runabout for shopping and dropping kids to school etc. Only has 60,000 km so far but seems to be a reliable, economical and practical little cabrio. Just returned from a 2500 km holiday over some average roads with no problems and 40 mpg average. Boot was just big enough for luggage for the 4 of us. I think I've been converted.
