Good Points

Good quality engineering & finish to metal & wood work


Bad Points

The safety catch & it's awkward to use in confined spaces, ie a hide or a car.


General Comments

The Daystate Sportsman is a one or two pump rifle (12ft/lbs)& is a brilliant gun. It's charged up by pumping the side lever, once gives about 8ft/lbs & the second pump gives the legal limit. Accuracy is cock on using Air Arms Fields or RWS Hobbys. You turn the bolt inti-clockwise 90 deg & pull it back to cock the trigger & load the pellet, to charge it you pull the grip on the lever back which releases the catch & swing the lever right out until you hear a hiss of air (it's just drawn air into the pump) then compress it back down, the first pump is very easy (second isn't too bad either) & you are ready to shoot. The gun is totaly recoilless, the trigger is fully adjustable, but it has got that pressed tin safety catch on the back, still it does work, but I never rely on one. Another good feature with this gun is after you have loaded & charged it you can open the bolt & holding the tension, release the trigger & let the bolt go back slowly so your gun is safe & when you want to shoot all you have to do is recock it.You can leave a charge of air in it indefinitely without damage to the seals.These guns are scarce & if you get the opportunity to buy one, go for it! I had to cull some pigeons recently in a building, so I sighted it to 10yds with one pump,with the silencer on & the lower power it made very little noise. I set my scope on 3x mag & just waited for the birds to come in to roost for the night, I shot 10 birds (all head shots) in less than 10 mins & neither the gun or the shot birds disturbed the other birds & there was no fear of over penetration.

    Your best bet would be to adverise for one on the airgun bbs, they are very rare. Hope this helps, cheers, Malc.
