General Comments

Once you have an account with Abbey, life is a lot easier. Obviously everything is free, so you can have a low cost banking service for your business.

I have had massive problems with opening accounts. I have two, and I have recently tried to open a third. The customer service teams know very little about what account opening departments are doing, and advice is often poor or incorrect. Expect a delay of over a month. I'm currently facing my fifth week waiting to have an account opened.

Online banking is crucial, but annoyingly it is closed down between about 11pm and 6am, which is incredibly frustrating when working late, early or abroad. There is no need for that.

If you can find better recommendations for another free business banking account, go with someone else. If it has to be Abbey, expect big delays creating an account.

    I have just given up trying to open an account after 5 weeks of trying. How do they get new customers?

    agree with every comment about the call centre, why on earth cant the new business team just send me emails with the progress rather than waiting for me to phone up and complain.

    Agree totally. Already have two business accounts with Abbey and tried to set up third. Gave up in the end.
