I went with a female friend for a girlie weeks holiday, and we really we got what we paid for. The hotel was basic and clean, and the staff were helpful. From the reviews that we had read we expected it to be a hotel for families, but mostly it was groups of 20-somethings enjoying the free bar before heading out for the night for somewhere with nightlife.
The rooms are quite small, but they have everything you need. The jacuzzi was bright yellow where kids had been peeing in it, and the entertainment reps were terrible, spending all their time arguing. There was no specific entertainment programme, which could be difficult if you are planning a holiday with the kids.
Please don't be fooled into thinking that the Santa Susanna Resort Hotel is a family orientated hotel. It isn't. The evenings in the bar were always loud, with the obligatory drunk falling over and making a fool of themselves, although security are really strict about the noise levels after 12.
The food is OK. It was a bit repetitive and never labelled, so you never really know what you're eating.
The entertainment does leave a lot to be desired. I'd suggest that if you are taking kids with you that you take something with you to keep them amused.
