Good Points

The staff and the hotel are excellent, with only one little niggle; you have to order your evening meal the day before. However, if you are out for the day and not back for dinner they automatically provide a packed lunch. Also, we were a little late arriving and a packed meal was waiting for us. We have not had this before. Lido is an excellent place to explore the Veneto from, as well as having a great beach.


Bad Points

Friday and Saturday is noisy in Piazza Mazzini, so we did not get a lot of sleep these two nights.


General Comments

The Lido di Jesolo Principe Hotel in Venice is family run, and a family feel is present throughout. Despite the size of the hotel, we will certainly return. The resort is great, and the main street is 15K long, and it is is shut to traffic at 8pm to 6am, then you have the street to promenade up and down, dropping into what ever bar or caf you fancy. The whole place gives a safe feeling, and there appears to be few, if any drunks. It has a wonderful beach, which is so clean, as is most of the Veneto area.

Lido is an ideal place to tour the area from, and Verona and Lake Garda are all within a two hour car journey. Venice can be reached by ferry with the connecting bus (buy the 16Euro ticket which gives unlimited travel on the water buses in Venice, as well as your travel on the bus to the ferry, and the ferry. Available from Tabacchi).

As you may be able to tell I have fallen in love with this part of the world.

A note on Thompson... This is the first time I've travelled with them, and apart from their shop where I bought the holiday, they were excellent. I flew from Manchester, and they were there help to get through check-in as smoothly as possible. Our rep in the resort was there not just to sell excursions but to help us have a good holiday, which was a pleasant change. On the return we were helped again with check-in to make it as smooth as possible. Our coach should have taken people for a Gatwick flight, however, the flight had been delayed over 3 hours, so rather than take the passengers to hang around the airport for 3 hours, they were left at the hotel where it was much more comfortable. Well done Thompson.
