Easy to set up - just plug and play. All the speaker cables are colour coded and the right length.
Component output and lots of inputs - enough for a DVR/VCR and a Broadband TV box.
More compact than separate amplifier, tuner and DVD player.
No HDMI (it's pre that era!). The remote control is not backlit - only glows in the dark like a watch.
The Sony DAV-S880 is an excellent DVD home cinema system. I bought it about three years ago now, and I have not had one problem.
The PQ into my Pioneer HDTV is astounding, and it beats many newer "up-scaling" models.
