I love being able to hook all my devices up to the back of this thing. No more going from one to another, and back up to the next. They all plug right in. This recorder also has easy access plugs in the front for video camera playback or recording, or TV games. It took a few tries to get the recording down without having to look in the book, but that is only because so much time had passed between attempts. All in all, I was excited about the purchase and performance.
Bad Points
I do however have a little issue, which after reading some of these reviews, will hopefully be taken care of. I too have a hard time getting the recorded DVD's to play on other devices, including my new computer. I think I have tried recording in the proper modes after finding the solution in the manual, but I have put it on the back burner for some time now. I am going to try it again and make sure I use DVD-r and DVD-rw this time. The only other thing is to pause and stop a DVD recording takes too long, and you get commercials and it makes editing home videos difficult.
General Comments
Generally, I would like to say go for it and buy a Sasui VRDVD4005 DVD recorder. But, until I can actually play a DVD on another player, I am going to hold my tongue. I will be back to let everyone know if it works. Thanks to all of you who wrote in with the helpful hints. I sure hope they work.

I don't like the fact that if you record in VR mode, it will not play on any other DVD player except for the Sansui. However, that's the only way to take advantage of the editing features.
