General Comments
When i brought my 1.7 Ford Puma 8 months ago i was quite happy with it. but as time went on i got so board and anoyed with it i couldnt belive it my self. it is quite fast accelerating but i have nearly lost it on bends a few times and im not even a fast driver. the first thing that failed was the speedo which wasnt to bad, the next thing to break was something to do with the ECU. which made the light stay on the dash and the car to mis fire. i lost the car to the garage for a week and it still mis fires some times. the next thing was the indecator stalk, then the wiper motor and finally the centrel locking. also i just rememberd the fuel gauge needle sometimes goes right down the scale when it feels like it. quite frankly i have paid so much out on it i hate it now. i really wish i had gone for the vauxhall version tigra, which i was torn between before buying this.

You nearly lost it with a Puma? Were you in a skid pan or something!! This car has by far the best handling in it's class, mainly due to the tuned suspension, exceptionally wide wheels and brilliant responsive steering. If you loose it in this car I suggest you need to take your test again!!!
To be honest, if you think the Puma is dull well I don't even have words that could describe the Tigra :)
Where else can by a Sports Coupe for under 8 grand with better acceleration than the MGTF (Puma 0-60 in 8.8 MGTF 0-60 = 8.9), more practicality than the MX5 (no space to put anything except you hairdresser’s scissors!) and the same economy as a decent super mini.
Long live the Ford Puma!

Have you ever owned a Tigra ? I have owned one for 3 years and had no trouble whatsoever - Vauxhall support is second to none. Ford Puma's have always had problems and never rated very highly and can't seem to solve owners consistent problems they experience with them. Regarding the previous comment, Vauxhall are to be soon bringing out a new updated Tigra.

The Tigar is known better as a "Ewwww nasty car"
The puma beats the Tigar hands down on every aspect apart from being pants.

Regarding the orginal comment about the inside being boring, have you seen the corsa, Oh I mean tigra inside.

Tiga's suck next a good puma, sounds like you got a bad puma unlucky.

Tiga's suck but Calibra's are cool thou. they even eat racing pumas for breakfast 0-60 wise. And they come in 4x4 not just a front wheel drive which I hate.

Plus Puma's and Tiga's should have disc's all round with ABS as standard and not with useless drums, they sports cars after all?

I have had a Ford Puma for 3 years. It is a 1997 R Reg one of the first off the production line.

To even compare a Vauxhall Tigra to a Ford Puma is mad. The Vauxhall doesn’t handle, accelerate, look, sound anywhere near as good. Quite frankly Tigras are awful cars.

The only new car that comes near to a Ford Puma to drive is a MINI COOPER S. And that costs the best part of £16000.

The only complaint I have is the parcel shelf continues to fall off at least it is predictable.

You'd rather have bought a Tigra????
Do yourself a favour go and test drive one they're awful. Noisey, uncomfortable, cramped and most importantly ssssllllooowww!

My Ex Girlfriend had one and I hated it even she wished she had bought something else.

Having been in several Puma's since I can honestly say it beats the Tigra hands down.

I think it is very unfortunate that you have had so many difficulties. I think it is the chance we take when buying second hand.
