    Bad Points

    I had tried to open a current account with Alliance & Leicester for three times in the past year or so, mainly attracted by their high interest rate. But everything during the application process, I received a letter confirming with me my application was successful, then followed by another letter (about 5 days later) just after I sent the reply form, that they regretted to inform me the success of my application was not correct. Is that what the bank is hiring its employees to do, wasting the customer and their own time and paper to play nasty jokes? This has been extremely irresponsible attitude. I hence followed the advice from the bank, writing a letter to the underwriting department, requesting for their review of my credit. (I have been with HSBC for 7 years since I come to this country, and have never had a single default, and always pay my monthly bills by direct debit), but after one month wait, I received no reply. As a consequence, I called the bank directly, and a female staff member in the underwriting department rudely told me off, by saying this is their standard procecure, and if I do not have the right credentials, it would be no use to apply in the first place!


    General Comments

    The application to the Royal Bank of Scotland has been fairly inefficient during my 3 applications in the past one year, and based on this, I shall never use this bank in the future. And certainly I can not bear with hearing the voice of that women in the underwriting department.
