They don't pay out!! The terms of the policy are more punitive than the same cover they provide for personal loans.


General Comments

The definition of the circumstances surrounding unemployment are such that they either invite dishonesty on the part of the claimant, possibly involving the connivance of the employer, or require the claimant to enter a long and expensive legal process to demonstrate unfair dismissal. Since I would not countenance the former, nor could I afford the latter, it is clear that the Halifax Mortgage Protection Insurance policy is of little value.

As many newspaper articles have shown, payment protection is a rip-off. The sickness and accident component is better, and cheaper purchased via a broker, and the unemployment component is worthless anyway.
