General Comments

The African Village Hotel in The Gambia is an excellent value hotel. It is 2 star, so don't go there if you want 4 star. Rooms are basic, but they do the job! Breakfasts are adequate, and better than that if you have inventive ideas with boiled eggs! Outside the hotel is a hassle with the locals, but as I went off season, this is to be expected. The airline - Astraeus was excellent. No beach to walk along is a drawback, but not a real problem as the man made one is kind of exclusive! The restaurant food was good and not expensive. Some people moaned, but I don't know why. Another good thing was the sort of people staying there - it was a bit like staying on a campsite. The people spoke to each other. Do you get that at other higher quality hotels?

I've stayed at the Kombo Beach a number of times, and it is a better hotel, but the African Village is better in many ways, particularly if you have been to The Gambia before.
