Good Points

Quality components, accuracy, power, nice styling, can be tunned and lots of aftermarket options available

Bad Points

Twangy out of the box and some don't like the rounded stock in front of the trigger guard

General Comments

The R-9 is great for hunting, target and plinking. With a little velocity tar on the mainspring, the gun goes "thunk" not "twang" and recoil/cocking effort is less. Have an inexpensive scope on mine and it has not destroyed it. The Rekord trigger, well-finished beech stock and blued Weihrauch barrel are all world-class and worth the cost. Saving up my $ to get a Deluxe version of the R-9 (checkered grip, interchangeable front sights, etc.)

Take a look at a BSA Supersport,David. If you like the R-9 I think you'll love the BSA!
Nicer gun,a little more power and for less money too! I've had both rifles, and I've since sold the R-9 but kept the BSA. Tell you anything?

Carlton- have a SuperSport and I agree it is a great gun. Unfortunately, I have my SuperSport with Russ Best now waiting for repair after trigger parts come in from the importer. Previous owner honed the action so much that the gun fired prematurely! My favorite gun of all is a Santa Rosa R-7 -I just rebuilt the internals and it shoots like new!
