General Comments

I have been a BMW car fan-buyer practically all my life. Until 2005, my 2001 BMW 328i fully loaded Estate started to bore me. Normally I miss my ex car for months after I change it, like an old shoe. Not this time, the Jaguar X-Type is perfect. Enjoying every mile, specially the manual gear, smooth and accurate. The interior is more plush than my ex fully loaded but bland BMW.
The torque makes it easy to drive in traffic as well as allows for secure overtaking. It has more space than my ex BMW Estate, and burns less fuel.
It is more reliable than any other European-US made car, (a study by an insurance company in the UK based on 55,000 cars had the X-Type in 13th place among 100 (the top 12 were Japanese). The first non Japanese car, a Jag. BMWs Audis VWs, were down the list.
So eat your hearts out all you negative critics of the X-Type with hints at its Mondeo 'origins'. Well only 18%, namely the engine is from the Ford PSA joint venture engine used on the Mondeo, however, it was reworked for the Jag. Gice me a car that is 100% 'pure', the Mini? VW, Skoda, Seat, Audi cross platforms, engines and parts, Volvo? Range Rover? etc. Thanks to Ford Jag was saved and kudos to them for making the car more affordable while maintaining the Jag line-touch.
Move over BMW.
