Good Points

Drive is one of Alan Jackson's lighter albums, with a few serious songs thrown in for good measure.

"First Love" is one of the fun tracks. Being a love song, it describes his beloved in great detail. However, unless you really pay attention to the lyrics,
You'd think he loved a woman! That is, until you hear,... "snow-shoe white, over-drive; I never shoulda sold her..." Well, anyone who wants to sell a woman would be arrested in the U.S., so it's got to be a car. It's funny because it doesn't come right out and say, "I love my old car!" That's what makes a good song: the old "show, don't tell."

"That'd be All Right" is a combination of fun and seriousness. It's main idea is that there's too much trouble in the world. However, it's an up-beat song
with Cajun music--accordions, drums, fiddles, etc--and it describes how nice it would be if "everybody everywhere.. (had) a little bigger piece of the
pie." It's a fast song with a positive message.

"Drive," the title track, was written for Alan Jackson's dad. He used to take Alan out on a boat and let him drive it. Now Alan takes his two daughters driving in a jeep. "Drive" is a song that shows how generations come together to create lasting memories and traditions.

"Where were You (when the World Stopped Turning)" is definitely a song to think about. Not many of us, whether Patriotic or not, will forget where we were on September 11, 2001. This song talks about all the places we could have been and what we might have been doing. Rounding out the chorus, it says, "Faith, Hope, and Love are some good things he gave us. And the greatest is love." Though it's a sad song, that message is a comfort to many.

Bad Points

After listening to "First Love" and "That'd be All Right," I expected "Designated Drinker" to be more of a humorous track. I also expected it to be better, because it was a duet with George Strait. It wasn't a total disappointment, but if there's one track I'd skip, it would be this one.

General Comments

Overall, Drive is a great album with many tracks everyday people can relate to. I give it a 9 out of 10.
