Lots of cars/bikes/boats ect, for the honest buyer to find.
Far to many sharks using this site to run fraudulant deals.
I have already written a report at the beginning of the year on Auto Trader UK, however during the last 3 weeks my work mate and I have both been trying to sell cars, myself a Mazda MX5 and my mate a Audi A4.
We have both had the same problem and that is the continual email's from people who want to purchase the car but want to have a shipper involved in the payment. This is a scam to leave you with your car and at the same time to extract monies from you.
The site itself is a great way to purchase a vehicle but with so many con men using it the overall trust in the site for me has now gone. This time during a two week period of advertising I have had 26 fake approaches and 1 possible trustworthy one.
My mate has been advertising for 4 weeks and has had 15 fake approaches, although his car is more value than mine at 14,500, mine being 4,500.
We have both decided to sell our cars in the local papers and stay away from this site for selling, It just is not worth the hassle of the bogus offers.
One today even wrote that she had been late getting back to me because her husband had had a crash yesterday. Funny he had a crash last week as well??. Do I really want my cherished car going to this household?. And finally while I write this report another email has arrived saying "Happy New Year" ' IT'S JUNE'. Personally I am so sad to write a bad report on something as most of my reports are happy and positive, But I do feel strongly that there are some people out there that are being robbed and Autotrader does not seem to want to police their own site. May be the police will do it for them.
