General Comments

While awaiting the delivery of a new 2006 Yamaha YP400 Majesty, I bought a yet unsold brand new 2005 model. A scooter is a far cry from my previous mount which was a 2003 Suzuki Bandit 1200S and many people asked me why I would have made such a move (?). All you have to do is notice the silly grin on my face to realize that I am enjoying the riding experience of my new Majesty.

This sweet little scoot fires up flawlessly everytime with its fuel injected 395 cc single. The water cooling keeps it at a steady temperature and maintenance should be predictably minimal.

The brakes are progressively strong and bring down the speed quickly and without drama. Believe it not, I have had trouble keeping the speed at legal limits. The power is so smooth and effortless. Of course it cannot match the arm-wrenching grunt of my past bike, but it performs admirably for its intended purpose.

The headlight on this bike is incredible. I feel that it is the best illumination I have had on any bike, bar none. The brights almost turn night to day.

For me, standing 5' 7'' tall, the seating accommodations are perfect. A taller person may be somewhat cramped, but I have heard of riders of all sizes appreciate the ride quality.

I have ordered the taller windshield from Yamaha, as I find the present one a bit short. I have also had the passenger backrest installed as well as the optional leg guards.

My first tank of gas rendered 68 miles per gallon (CDN gal.). So fuel economy is good.

This bike carries its weight low and I find that it dives into corners great. Just don't get too slow or it will drop into the corner.

The centre stand is a nice option. I find it hard to find the side stand tine from the driver's seat. I believe that it should be longer, so I don't have to fish around with my heel to actuate it.

Further to my wish list would be better quality of materials used on dash storage compartments.

Would I recommend this bike to others? You Bet!

Just a foot-note to the previous review: I thought that I wanted a more powerful machine this year and traded my Majesty on a brand new V-Max. Within three weeks I realized the error of my ways and was able, with a small loss of cash of course, to trade back to a 2007 Majesty and I am happy again. Ease of riding, cheaper licensing and fuel costs, fuel injection, water cooling and good instrumentation and definitely better cargo carrying capacity all contributed to my decision.

Remember, it is not image or prestige that makes a difference, but true enjoyment in the ride.
