The staff at this resort were nothing less than fabulous. We were catered to, pampered and spoiled by them. We made wonderful new friends; some St. Lucian, who we have maintained contact with since our trip.
The Beach & Ocean were terrible at this resort. I don't understand why really, and there were very large sticks littering the beach all the time. The water was brown, much like here in the U.S. By far not the crystal blue water I have come to expect from the Caribbean. When we wanted to enjoy the ocean we had to take the shuttle (free) over to The Grande (Sandals), and the water there was gorgeous! The shuttle was free, it was just a pain to pack up essentials and go, when I felt like it should have been part of the experience we were paying for at Halcyon.
I have talked to other people who said the water was not like this when they went to Lucia. I am not sure if a hurricane could have caused some change, but do your homework and find out about the water before you invest the money to go. It may be easier to stay at one of the other Sandals resorts there on the island.
