Good Points
Reasonable performance from the 1.6. 1.8 is better and has stiffer body and uprated brakes. Very simple and ultra reliable which is why there are shed loads of Mk1's around.

Bad Points
Small. 6'+ drivers have a problem. Numb bum seat on long trips. Noisy at speed with the roof up. Tiny boot half full of spare wheel. Thirsty if driven quickly.

General Comments
Fun Fun Fun. I had my Mazda MX-5 Eunos Roadster for 6 months in the mountains of New Zealand and it was a great little car. Don't know how it would be in a damp European climate unless it had the hard top fitted. Only worry is ultra low profile in bad weather, hidden in spray the truckers can't see you.
