Good Points

We travelled with Libra. The holiday was very well organised, meaning that you could just relax and enjoy. Stress free. All excursions are included, although you also have a choice of optional excursions. We loved Aswan, and the optional trip to Abu Simble is a must. We really enjoyed the Felucca trip and the bird watching trip around the botanical gardens. Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The ship is very clean, and the cabins are spacious with a floor to ceiling window with sliding door which opens right up. You also get a bath and shower in the bathroom! The staff are very polite and helpful. Expect towel sculptures every night.


Bad Points

Drinks are expensive. You sign for them and pay at the end of the trip. It is worth taking your own or buying water when on shore. Excursions are time limited so you don't get much time to wander on your own after the guided tour. I would not recommend the Philae sound and light show, although some enjoyed it. Be prepared for some serious haggling at every excursion. Don't use the horse and carriage rides. The horses look half starved and they are not given enough water in the heat.


General Comments

I would really recommend the MS Emilio Nile cruise. Wonderful service, weather, and sights. Our only wish was that we had booked Cairo as an add on. Reading up on the sights or watching a DVD before going would add to the experience, as it would give you a better understanding of the sights.

    We're going in a party of 7 on the Domina Prestige next week. I was wondering if anyone had advice about whether to take sterling of egyptian pounds to pay for drinks excursions etc I'm a bit worried about the drinks bill for 7 at the end of the holiday too. Any advice on costs of water and soft drinks. Thanks, Sue.

    Hi sue
    You can use either egyptian pounds or english pounds on board the domina but we took just enough egyptian pounds to pay for souvenirs and we paid for drinks, excursions with english money. I do not think that they accept travellers cheques on board.
    Bottles of Water costs around 5 egyptian pounds for a 500ml bottle but you can get it cheaper off the boat. You will have to sign for drinks each time you have one but you are able to ask for a nightly tally if you want to keep track.
