General Comments

Eating Al fresco in the historic Pantiles colonnade walkway dating back to 17th century Georgian England in the spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells, in the warm summer sunshine, is one of the finest pleasures open to any of this county's visitors.

Woods is a family run restaurant that specialises in locally sourced, seasonal fare - supporting regional suppliers, whilst doing its bit for the environment.

To start, I opted for the Smoked Salmon & Herb Salad with a light Cucumber Dressing (£5.50) whist my wife went for the Asparagus & Poached Egg Salad with Pan Fried Halloumi (£5.75), which were both outstanding and beautifully presented.

For main, I was tempted by the slow roasted belly of pork (£13.50) in a sauce of celery, carrots, onion, garlic, rosemary, cider and white wine, served on a bed of pan-fried greens with sesame seeds. Heavenly.

My wife's choice was equally outstanding. Seared tuna (£14.25) served rare with a shallot, ginger, chilli, coriander, soy sauce and olive oil dressing, served with steamed French beans and buttered new potatoes.

The refreshing, light Italian Pinio Grigio (£13.25) was the perfect accompaniment.
