Car returned to me covered in bird excrement (see details below)
Attitude of all staff I dealt with
I recently arrived back at Heathrow from a five-day business trip to Belgium and collected my car around 6pm. On reaching my car I was horrified to see the rear boot and window and rear passenger section on the drivers side absolutely covered in bird excrement. I was shocked that (a) the car had been parked for 5 days in an area (presumably under or near a tree) subject to birds relieving themselves on my car, and (b) that the car had been left for me to drive away in that state! I didn't expect my car to be valeted, but to be presented with my car half covered in bird mess was totally unacceptable. Not only did it look dreadful, but bird excrement, if not removed promptly, can cause serious damage to a car's paintwork. There was no explanation or apology, even though the staff must have known what a state it was in.
I went back to office in a state of anger and requested that the car at least be cleaned. I was met with complete indifference and a "couldn't care less" attitude. I was told that my car couldn't be valeted because no car valet service was currently available. I asked for a refund but that was flatly refused. Instead, and without a trace of irony, I was offered a free valet the next time I used CPS! Incidentally, a note signed by a CPS employee regarding the offer of a free valet admitted that the car was parked "inappropriately". However, I obviously wasn't going to get anywhere there, and as I was tired and wanted to get home, I left with the car still covered with the mess.
I wrote various e-mails to Customer Services and the matter was eventually dealt with by the Director of Customer Services. She refused to even consider offering a refund, once again preferring to offer a complimentary valet (which I considered to be an insult). CPS didn't even have the courtesy to apologise for the distress and inconvenience caused. I am totally disgusted with CPS's attitude and the contempt shown to one of their customers.
