seons71's Review of Flymo Turbo Compact 380 Lawn Mower

Overall Rating

Good Points

Cheap to buy.
Cuts grass well.
Good collection capacity.
Easy to manoeuvre on flat surfaces.

Bad Points

Blows out grass peripherally, and it tends to blast air at your flowerbeds when cutting near the edge of the lawn, spreading soil around and damaging fragile plants.
It does have a tendency to get stuck on uneven ground.
Not possible to repair (not cost-effective).

General Comments

I was given the Flymo Turbo Compact 380 lawnmower as a gift just over 3 years ago. In that time it has worked reasonably well, and it does a fairly good job of cutting the lawn, although it does coat your patio with grass in the process (see other reviews). I soon learned to sweep the patio after mowing the lawn, not before! My biggest disappointment was that after only just over 3 years of light use (a few days outside the guarantee) it started to make an unpleasant sound. I called HSS (recommended repairers) only to be told that they do not bother repairing this model as it is not cost-effective, so I ran it until it died (1/2 a lawn later) and scrapped it. Maybe you get what you pay for?

I had exactly the same experience, after 3 years it started getting very loud then abruptly died on me.
Also it became a non-hover mower when more than half full. Both of these problems are probably due to a cheap and under-powered motor that isn't up to the job.
Would not buy another one, and will stay clear of this brand in case they are all as badly put together.
