Detailed account of technical aspects regarding U-boats and U-boat warfare. Decscription of the stress,fears and emotions involved in U-boat warfare are well written.
Probably because it was written in the 60's some the style of English is a bit outdated. Also i would have liked that mr. Werner took a firmer stand against his former Nazi superiors. Like they were only fighting against the 'bolshewiks'- the 'true enemy'. Yeah right, Herbert
If you want to learn about U-boat warfare read Herbert A. Werner, Iron Coffins: A U-boat Commander's War, 1939-45 together with Das Boot (or watch the movie if you're too lazy) and you know everything you need to know about this subject.
