Good Points

I adore this hotel!! I have stayed here on many occasions in s/c, h/b and All inclusive capacities. The rooms are always lovely and clean, and if there is a problem the friendly staff are always willing to help. There is a fabulous selection of food at the buffet dinners, of which drinks are free. I am a vegetarian but always found a lot of choice. Entertainment is varied and great! Including a big screen kiddies film each night, live bands, quizzes, kids clubs etc. The hotel is situated a few hundred yards from the main strip of Praia Da Rocha, and it is a 10 minute walk into beautiful Portimao. I adore this hotel. My next trip will be my 20th! It's lovely that staff remember who you are when you revisit.

Bad Points

There are not many (unless you are really fussy or had a bad personal experience). I once had food poisoning (about 5 years ago now), but customer service was great, and there is a doctor available on-site. Praia Da Rocha can be a problem if you are infirm, as it is located on a steep hill.

General Comments

Personally Praia Da Rocha has everything I need for a great holiday base. Don't let the steep hill put you off!! My nan came and she was over 80 and was fine. A little tip: When you walk to the top of the hill, turn right (towards Hotel Jupiter and the clubs.. NOT towards the ruins) and walk along the main strip. About half way down you will come to some steps on the seafront and a little walkway in between the road and the beach. This gently slopes towards the beachfront and is easier to walk, especially with buggies or wheelchairs. The walkway is lit at night and has beautifully romantic cafes. I can't tell you how great it is!! If you turn left at the hill and walk along the strip, you will come to some ruins as the road bends (if you don't fancy the walk, there is a little white train that takes tourists along), there you will find telescopes to look over the ocean. If you carry on walking down that road, you will come to the stunning new Marina (which I had the pleasure in watching develop over the years). There are a few shops and cafes there with gorgeous views over the many Yachts and boats situated there. Another tip: Don't waste money on cabs!! Take a local bus to Portimao (every ten mins) and you can get a bus to anywhere in the Algarve from there. It is approximately 50p per trip. Make sure you visit Albufiera!!! Have fun. Portugal is the greatest Country on Earth.
