Elricardo's Review of BP Petrol Stations Petrol Station
18th May 2006
Overall Rating
- Value for money

Station shops are usually very good.
Bad Points
Price of fuel is always over the top.
Recent advertising re Ultimate Fuel was pure arrogance.
General Comments
I commute around 40 miles to work every day and spend a reasonable slice of my income on fuel.
I live around 1/2 mile from a BP station and have to drive past it on a daily basis. It never ceases to amaze me how BP seem to be comfortable charging 3-4p per litre more than enyone else.
Recently when the price of Diesel reached around the 97-99p per litre mark, I drove into a nearby town and noticed a BP charging £1.....surely this is the ultimate faux pas when no one else was, especially when a Morrisons located 200 yards away was charging 97p!
A company that advertises £8 Billion in profit can surely at least be competitive. So far the only BP that is fair on price just happened to be around the corner from a Sainsburys filling station....funny that.
To top off their amazing arrogance, they aired a radio advert stating that if everyone used BP Ultimate fuel it would be equivalent to 15 million less cars on the road....does anyone else spot the double edged irony here? They happily fill their coffers with profits from 'standard' fuel, then try and cash in on the green vote by asking you to spend even more on an already vastly overpriced commodity to counteract an environmental issue they have played a significant role in creating.
Go to Petrol Prices.com and you can avoid ever paying over the odds at BP, or anywhere else for that matter.
