Many hidden charges.


General Comments

We took out the Halifax mortgage as they told us there were no charges when we decided to leave, but when we left they charged us £175. I queried this, and I was told it was an administration fee. How can it cost £175 in administration? I have asked for a breakdown of how the costs occurred, but they refuse to tell us and have taken our money. Following this they then charged another £50 to let us have our deeds back. Why? Stamps are not expensive. Again they take your money and give no answers. Halifax charges have increased by 52% in the last year. We have changed our mortgage to the Virgin One account, who clearly tell you what the charges are before you take out the mortgage, and these charges are less than half of what Halifax charge!
