I was moving house, and I phoned the Abbey National to give them the new address, and I was told I had to go to a branch to do it. The two other banks that I'm with did it over the phone. I asked them to stop sending statements and cheque books until I could get into a branch. They WON'T! It turns out that they have sent a new blank cheque book to an address I no longer live at! Abbey, the bank with no security measures should be their new motto.
