General Comments

Air Arms S400 Carbine.22cal: I have always had spring airguns before and what a joy it is to switch over to a compressed air one, it was ordered straight from the internet so I have never even seen one before but very pleased with it.
The only thing is that is is only producing 550fps (am I right in thinking the legal limit is somewhere over 600fps depending on pellet?) (( that is only on a cheap chronograph I have though ))

I will be contacting the shop tomorrow to see what they say, I have read within these reviews that you are able to adjust a small screw somewhere near the trigger to get a few extra lbs/ft from it so not sure if that is something I will be able to do myself (keeping within the legal limits of course).

Anyway, great gun so far from first expresions, just hope I can get the power up slightly.

The gun is now up to full power, I found the type of pellet used makes all the difference (the Air Arms own pellets give the closest to the 12 ft/lbs!). And I was also able to alter that power adjuster screw to make any pellet match the 12 ft/lbs (you need to know the weight of the pellet in grains and the speed it travels to work out the ft/lbs). Fps x fps x pellet grain divide by 450240 = ft/lbs. I found when the gun is fully charged (190bar) it produces slightly less power (only about 25fps) but once the pressure drops a bit (to about 170 bar) then it is shooting at full power. I'm still experimenting to see at what stage the power drops and I need to refill the gun but I am still very pleased with it. Going back to my old spring airgun it feels like an old bone shaker compared to the new S400, it is so smooth and it feels so good to have no recoil !
