Can't think of any!
Not very tasty, not very cheap, not anything much!!
This review is not aimed at the 'traditional' Subway menu but rather at the Breakfast menu.
I've eaten in 4 different Subways and not had a problem with the regular food before, but after having a couple of bad experiences of their breakfast I felt that I had to share this with everyone here.
Whilst I cannot add much to the excellent reviews and comments that have already talked about the food, staff and shops that constitute a Subway, I can tell you about the very poor service and food that I received.
The breakfast menu is pretty standard fare; Egg & Bacon Bap; Egg & Sausage Bap; Egg, Bacon & Sausage Bap; Egg & Tomato Bap etc.
In the first restaurant I tried the "Sandwich artist" and the waiter actually tested the heat of the re-heated egg by dipping his finger in it when he thought I wasn't looking. Thank god for mirrors!! That's one good thing I could but in the good points - Mirrors everywhere!
The egg mixture had been pre-cooked, a la McDonalds, which is another good reason to avoid it, the sausages were again re-heated and not very tasty, and the bacon looked so anaemic that it could have passed for veal!!!
The meal wasn't good value, and the only reason why I tried them again was that I was with someone else who raved about their foot-longs! Again I would like to stress that I have not got any gripes about their main menu, but both times I have had a breakfast I have felt sick afterwards, and I have written to both Subway and the franchisee with no reply from either.
If they are going to use microwaves to re-heat ingredients, then they should at least make sure they have strict guidelines for each item, and that the ingredients have been cooked properly in the first place, or actually use ingredients that are cooked in a microwave not just re-heated. There are plenty of microwave-able bacon, sausages and egg products on the market now. There is no excuse for using the same dried egg-reconstituted-cooked-cooled-then re-heated rubbish that McD's use.
I'm trying hard for this to not turn into a tirade of abuse aimed at microwave re-heating, but when you have seen inexperienced people using and abusing a perfectly good kitchen device and then suffered because of it, then it does test your anger management!!
I'm sure there are many people (myself included) who have cooked bacon, sausages and scrambled egg in a microwave without too many problems - why can't subway?
