The setting is lovely, but it is like an oasis considering the real Goa is so poor.
Staff very friendly.
Clean beyond belief.
They make you feel like royalty.
Food was way too expensive! DO NOT eat in the hotel. You will need a mortgage! The waiters are underpaid for the work they do, and the girls selling stuff on the beach drive you nuts.
We stayed at The Leela palace in Goa in March 2006. The hotel is lovely, but the food was very expensive. It was a lot cheaper to eat out! The best restaurants in Goa are the Fishermans Wharf and Samanthas. The last one looks nothing from the outside, but the pizzas are gorgeous. We are a family of 4 and we ate out for £10.
Fishing is rubbish. If you are hoping for some good sea fishing like my husband was, you will be very disappointed. The bloke from Bettys charged him £150 to go out. No tackle, no idea and no fish!
