General Comments

Having been away for a few days, we received a panic telephone call from our neighbour who had kindly been looking after our animals whilst we had our short break. The bad news came your whole kitchen ceiling had come down, and there was water pouring through the floor from above. It is not the news you want to hear after a few perfect days away. We duly returned home that same day, arriving back at around 10pm at night to find what can only be called a right mess! Our kind neighbour had turned off our water to stop the flow and prevent further damage to our property.

First thing was to call the Lloyds TSB hotline number to find out what we had to do next. They where very good, and they advised us what to do and what not to do in the first instance. By 07.30 the next morning the telephone was ringing, and a voice introducing himself as our "disaster master" for the want of a better name. By 8.45am he had arrived to start the clean up, and he called out whoever he needed to start temporary urgent remedial works. He checked the walls, the floors and the electrics etc. Within the hour the drying equipment was in place and working.

In the next week or so I had several conversations with a Lloyds TSB Insurance claim handler who had started the claim process. With minimal paperwork (another saving), I was very impressed with the speed the process was going through the system.

After several weeks of drying out, and several visits from our "disaster master", we were well on the way to getting back to normality. The quotes for the repairs had arrived, and had duly been sent off following the different traders OF OUR CHOICE. Within a short space of time approval was forthcoming from Lloyds TSB to progress the repairs in line with the agreed companies quote. As soon as that was agreed, payment was transferred into my account to settle the builders bill upon completion.

I can only praise the customer service and speed the claim was handled by Lloyds TSB Buildings and Contents Insurance. I trust should you ever have such a mishap that you too are insured with Lloyds TSB?
