Good Points

Prestige, power and image. Effortless motoring across any terrain.

Bad Points

Fuel economy, but hey it's a V8! Mine runs on LPG, which has paid for itself in fuel savings in less than a year.

General Comments

The Range Rover 4.6 HSE I always told my dad I'd drive when I was little. It feels like driving my sitting room to work each morning! I still get a thrill every time the air suspension lifts the car by six inches when I start it.

Amazingly complicated, with lots (potentially) to go wrong. A rather unfair (in my opinion) reputation of unreliability. Although the build quality is not a patch on German vehicles. Frankly, running a Range Rover of any model on a budget is unrealistic. Find a good one, service it, and be prepared to look after it. Non-franchised agents charge half what main dealers will. I think this is a vehicle for an enthusiast who has a true passion for it.

My P38 is the best vehicle I have ever owned, but it costs a fair bit more to run than a base-model Ford. The height of my love for it was using it to pull a BMW X5 out of a swamp!

My advice is to research them thoroughly and inspect any you're considering even more thoroughly. The vehicle will reward you with an incomparable motoring experience that only comes with a Range Rover.
