I've discovered that, in my case, Ford's bad reputation for inferior electrical and tranny work was largely the result of installing light-gauge battery cables which deteriorate in time and are therefore unable to deliver the necessary amperage to critical components. As well, they've failed to apprise Ford maintenance centres of this fact.
The best point? My '95 Ford Taurus SHO is white with black piping, a black moon roof and a black partial bra. Even now, some drivers ahead of me slow down, mistaking it for a pursuit car. Well, more importantly, it's super comfortable for my build with a great power seat and lots of leg room. More space than a BMW of the same class and as easy to handle. The coachwork is excellent too; I live in Ontario where there's lots of snow and ice and, of course, road salt. But my SHO has no rust.
