Hotel falling into disrepair.

General Comments

I have decided to break my comments about the Palm Grove Hotel in the Gambia into defined areas:-

Flight and transfers:-
I have previously arranged my own transfer to and from the airport. This was hell on earth due to the number of bumsters hassling me at Banjul to carry my bag. This time less bumsters, and the transfer was arranged through the tour operator. Please bear this in mind

Hotel accommodation:-
Palm Grove has fallen into disrepair since my last visit. However, this was at the end of the season. The rooms require refurbishment, but this is Africa, and expectations should not be too high to start with.

Entertainment:-
Poor - Basically nothing in the evenings unless you take the taxi into Kololi, which is 600D or £12 return. I suggest you find others who are going and share the cost.

Food:-
Poor in the restaurant, better in Kololi. Expect to pay about £10 to £15 per head, including a couple of beers.

General:-
Bearing in mind that this is a very poor country, and people do hassle you for money for trivial help, it is what it is. A week for two costs approximately £580 B & B. For people just wanting full-on sun for a week or so it is fine. For those wanting European style nightlife and top food, do not go.
