General Comments
OK, so Earl Grey is Earl Grey right? Wrong. Co-op Earl Grey is quite possibly the best I've ever had. I consider myself a bit of an expert on Earl Grey, having never managed to find a brand that lives up to one I had on holiday several years ago. The Tesco finest version is too spicy and lemon takes over, the Twinings lacks any weight, and the Morrisons version may as well be lemon juice. The Co-op brand is different - all the flavours are in there (your lemon, your bergamot). However, you are always aware that it is tea that you are drinking. Tea is a predominant flavour, and that is how I like it. Some Earl Grey brands need a good 5 minutes brewing before they come up to scratch. Co-op Earl Grey can actually look like regular tea (if taken with milk) after just a couple of minutes, rather than resembling the insipid grey of its rivals. The daddy of Earl Grey has arrived. While it's not the cheapest, there is always something satisfying about buying things from the Co-op. Probably something to do with ethics and fair trade and all that the Co-op stands for.
