General Comments

Pleasureland isn't the worst theme park in the area; because there's Camelot.

Pleasureland has quite a way to go before you could consider it worth going to Southport for, but if you're in the area or you've been to the beach, there are worse places to go.

But anyone who's experienced a US theme park (Disney, Universal) will be appalled and amused by what Southport has to offer. It's both quaint and tacky, but its not ghastly in the way Blackpool has become.

Some of the rides are well past their sell by dates; looking like cast-offs from Butlins. There are at least two Merry-Go-Round like rides that are pre-1940's! Come on!

I sincerely can't imagine that Pleasureland can improve vastly without the use of a new site and a lot of explosive. However, on reflection, the food wasn't bad, and the kids (both under 6 at the time) had fun. I wouldn't recommend it to travel too, but if you're in Southport anyway, it's worth a look.
