Stunning looks (the design hasnt dated in 11 years!) Still turns heads and Ive had countless numbers of poeple commenting on how good the car looks. Still a powerfull car without modifications (150 bhp 0-60 in 7.5 secs). Very reliable, bulletproof engine. Still holds its price well.
Seat bolsters wear quick, high mileage engines can be a bit tappty when cold. Regular oil changes might prevent this. Rusting rear arches (new arches might cost 150-200 each to replace). 'Zorst note could be better. Dash computer can display faults which dont exist eg worn pads/bulbs. Usually its faults with the sensors.
This Vauxhall Astra GSI Mk3 has given me over a year of trouble free motoring. The only thing its needed is a new petrol tank as the last one sprang a leak. They drive well but can be twitchy taking bends. The car is very well built and cruising at 90 mph feels like 60. In my opinion this is one of the best cars Ive owned (previous cars - RS turbo(ok) R5 GTT (avoid!)...and the best Vauxhall has manufactured.
If thinking of buying one, go for earlier models 92-93. Later models have a less powerfull ecotec engine. Make sure cam belt is changed every 20k and watch out for waterpump failer.
