My Renault Laguna Sport Tourer is 3.5 years old - just out of warranty. It's done 25,000 mostly motorway miles. Over the course of a weekend the car developed a gear/clutch problem - could not select any gear with the engine running. Clutch pedal still had pressure. Start the engine with a gear already selected and the vehicle would move off, even though the clutch pedal was fully depressed. The local Renault agent wanted £750+vat to assess what the problem was, and a further £450+vat for a clutch master/slave cylinder replacement. I asked for a contribution from Renault given the car's youth and low miles - they said no.
I took it to a local clutch / gearbox specialist. not only does the clutch master / slave cylinder need replacing, but also the dual mass flywheel is in pieces! All up, this will cost £800. A load cheaper than the Renault agent would have cost, but still a lot of £ for a car just out of warranty. Steer clear of Lagunas - they are unreliable and expensive to fix.
