Good Points

After reading several bad reviews about the hotel i was pleasantly surprised to find that the room was clean and more than adequate for me and my girlfriend. We stayed in the main bloc (1) on the second floor.

Bad Points

The hill you have to walk up from the hotel to the main strip and the beach and believe me it doesn't get any easier as the days go by!!

General Comments

Praia Da Rocha, Club Praia Da Rocha Aparthotels - Having gone on the easter weekend there were quite a few other people in the resort so it wasn't too quiet but at least there was plenty of space on the beach and no fighting over sunloungers! The beach is absolutely fantastic and we had 4 good days of weather although it was quite cloudy for the last few days but still nice and warm. One of the local beers is Super Bock and is as strong as stella but nicer to drink and, as we found in a local shop, at 0.65euros for a 330ml bottle (46pence!) it's certainly a cheap way to get drunk!! The food there is very varied from BurgerRanch to the upmarket Titanic and The Atlantic but the food there is excellent and the waiters were very friendly and you could have a good laugh with them as their english is very good. There are a lot of Irish living in Rocha and as a result a fair few Irish bars. Daly's was our first port of call as it's next to the hotel at the bottom of THAT hill! The bar staff there make you feel right at home and the owners - the hosts are fantastic. They have a crazy karaoke every night and is very handy with a guitar! There's guiness on draught, carlsberg, magners cider, and estrell damm (a local brew). Some where, at some time, you might see a leprechaun wandering about and if you do, please don't laugh at poor old Cormack too much as his poor old feet will probably be killing him! MJ's is just up the hill and to the right just off the strip. Head up the stairs by the Babylone nightclub sign (open midnight til' 7am) and have a nice drink in another very friendly pub.
The Strip is lined with restaurants, bars and cafe's and souvenier shops selling everything from their locally made goods to designer gear. All in all Praia da Rocha in a fabulous place to stay and i would recommend it to both families and couples and i cant't wait to go back!
